![]() ![]() I hope that this text helped you to understand this gorgeous ship as I understood it. I should stop around here since there's not much more to say, if u didnt free-xp'd trough the konigsberg and the nurnberg you should know how to hide your citadels, and with the Yorck you will learn the more patient style of playing (stick with your Battleships and work with them, always aware of the range) and never forget: Use only AP (as you should with german cruisers) and always aim for the citadel, no matter what. I found easier to plunge-fire battleships with the 150mm Nürnberg guns than with these beauties, however something really interesting happened: The AP's are capable of penetrating Colorado's citadels (yes, I got surprised when saw that) and dont have many troubles penetrating other ship's armor (just dont get too excited about the citadel stuff, your not going to get tons of cits, however you get good damage. I wouldn't advice you to trust in your big guns. They don't deserve it. Basically what you do is decide which side of the map are you going to in the beggining of the match and start positioning your turrets in order to get a good fire position, always hiding your citadel. The Yorck is a ship made for long distance shooting, her turret rotation speed already shows that you shouldnt get into close-quarters combat if the armor didnt made that clear enough for you. Battlecruisers are different from light cruisers (which we get used to trough the konigsberg and the nurnberg) and its gameplay is A LOT different. No big deal about it, only that she was supposed to be a battlecruiser. I believe that the in-game Yorck is based on the Ersatz Yorck of the German Empire, which is not a proper paper ship since its construction started in the mid 1916's but was cancelled in order to concentrate on the U-Boat program, clearly the focus of the Kaiserliche Marine during the 1st world war. First of all let's talk about the history of the ship in the real world. I just unlocked the Ersatz Yorck, or simply the tier VII german cruiser, and I would like to talk about it since I've seen a lot of hate on this beauty. ![]()
